The primary purpose of the Center for Counseling and Accessibility Services is to provide programs and services to assist in the emotional, psychological, and intellectual development of students with diverse backgrounds. Specifically, the Counseling Center provides individual and group counseling, preventive, developmental, and other services (i.e., transformative presentations and in-service trainings) to augment the total educational process, thereby maintaining a climate conducive to the academic growth and development of all students.
This position is responsible for the delivery of comprehensive behavioral health/ substance use counseling services.
Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
- Planning and Development:
- Participating as part of the Division of Student Affairs.
Developing program in accordance with Student Affairs goals and objectives.
Conducting comprehensive counseling evaluations that include but are not limited to the assessment of intellectual, developmental, academic, social/emotional and behavioral status. Assessment and data collection by use of standardized evaluation techniques. Interpreting and utilizing assessment data for the purpose of writing counseling reports and developing written intervention plans. Counseling students individually and in groups. Providing crisis intervention.
- Professional Development:
Attending in-service meetings and conferences to assist in the development of professional attitudes and skills.
Maintaining professional skills through reading of current literature and professional memberships.
Program Evaluation:
Participating in program evaluation.
Assisting in the design and implementation of program evaluation.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Assisting with university wide programs.
Provide transformative presentations.
