Position Summary

The Center for Counseling & Psychological Services (CCPS) with the Division of Student Affairs at Washington University in St. Louis (WashU) seeks a Staff Psychologist. The Staff Psychologist reports to the Associate Director/Director of Training and will provide psychological services including individual and group therapy and crisis intervention to WashU students. Position also provides supervision and training to doctoral interns and practicum trainees as well as consultation and outreach to the WashU community

About CCPS

CCPS consists of an interdisciplinary team of psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, and licensed counselors, with nearly 19 full-time equivalent permanent professional staff. CCPS strives to be a comprehensive counseling center that fosters students’ personal, emotional, and academic well-being through high-quality therapeutic services, consultation, and outreach and prevention programs. CCPS offers short-term, time-limited counseling services designed to facilitate adjustment, improve functioning, and resolve concerns that affect academic success. In addition, the center has recently launched a doctoral internship in health service psychology and is actively working toward accreditation by the American Psychological Association, as well as offering an Advanced Therapy Practicum for graduate students in psychology.

Each year, CCPS provides clinical services to approximately 12-15 percent of the WashU student body and reaches many additional students and community members through consultation, outreach, and other educational programming. Building on a strong foundation of accomplishments, the center is poised for continued growth, and the new Director will play a key role in advancing CCPS to the next stage of its evolution.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides individual, couples, group psychotherapy, initial consultation and crisis intervention for clients.
  • Completes all documentation of clinical services within department guidelines and ethical and legal parameters.
  • Conducts community outreach and consultation services to students, staff and faculty
  • Supervises non-licensed staff, doctoral interns and practicum trainees as needed. Provides didactic training and consultation to doctoral interns and practicum trainees.
  • Participates in treatment team, consultation, and staff meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned, in consultation with supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate (Ph.D., Psy.D. or EdD.) from a regionally accredited university in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, counselor education, or other closely related discipline.
  • License-eligible as a psychologist in the state of MO with the expectation of being licensed within 12 months.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 – 2 years of experience post-graduation in a college or university counseling center.

Salary Range

$74,900 to $116,000 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
