The mission of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is to assist Student Affairs and the University in helping the student body achieve academically, socially, and personally through culturally responsive mental health services. CAPS is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and affirming environment to ensure that all students remain psychologically healthy in pursuit of their goals. We educate, support, advocate and help foster a culture of acceptance and appreciation of human differences.  Psychologists must be able to develop and deliver psycho-educational programs to meet the special needs of underserved populations, particularly the African American student population. UCSB Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is seeking a psychologist to work with our student population.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA accredited doctoral program
  • License to practice psychology in the State of California or eligible within 6 months
  • Thorough knowledge of diagnostic/psychological testing methodologies.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner with a diverse client group, members of the medical staff and faculty.
  • Knowledge of electronic/medical records systems.
  • Demonstrated experience working with African American communities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Black Psychology and culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide culturally appropriate therapeutic interventions.
