Student Counseling Services (SCS) at Connecticut College is pleased to announce a full-time (37.5 hours), academic year  (42 weeks) Psychologist position. This is a clinical position with some administrative duties. Position duties include consultative, clinical, crisis and outreach services to the campus community. The position requires psychological diagnosis and treatment of student patients and will provide clinical supervision for the training program (practicum students).  In addition to having a general expert knowledge of mental health and psychological functioning, this position will have experience with and proficiency in addressing issues and aspects of identity within the context of psychotherapy.  The Psychologist will report directly to the Director of Student Counseling and Health Services. 

Identity-focused Psychologist. We are seeking a licensed clinician to join our Identity-Focused team, providing expert mental health support to neurodivergent students and the broader campus community. This role involves diagnostic assessment and treatment, as well as consultation, crisis response, outreach, and clinical supervision for our training program. The ideal candidate will bring experience in affirmative, sex-positive, and culturally responsive counseling, with a strong commitment to supporting self-determination, exploring intersections of identity, and fostering an inclusive and affirming campus environment. Will have a general expert knowledge of mental health and psychological functioning, along with a specific knowledge of college mental health. Will have experience with and proficiency in providing counseling that is affirmative, sex-positive, culturally sensitive, consistent with risk reduction principle. Will have experience in counseling that promotes self-determination and addresses issues of sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and the intersection of these aspects of identities with other categories such as race, class, and religion, as well as physical functioning.

The Psychologist must have completed an APA-approved doctoral degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology and an APA-approved internship, and be licensed (or license eligible) in the state of CT.  Experience working in a college counseling setting or with emerging adults is preferred. Excellent professional, interpersonal, communication (both oral and written), and evidence-based counseling skills are required. Experience in the clinical treatment of neurodivergence, trauma and/or other college mental health issues along with supervision are beneficial. Successful candidates will demonstrate expertise in one of the above mentioned focus areas and have an investment in developing further clinical expertise.
