GENERAL DUTIES
Completes non-teaching projects or complex work in support of a Campus or University administrative or academic department. This work is generally of a temporary nature and requires specialized experience or expertise.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker will serve as part of a multidisciplinary Student Support and Wellness team, addressing the health and well-being of the law school’s student community during the Fall and Spring semesters of the 2025–2026 academic year. This is a part-time role, up to 15 hours per week.
The Counselor or Social Worker will provide individual counseling and/or group sessions—both in person and remotely—which may include weekend hours. Services will include support for students in need of crisis intervention.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Counseling

Provide brief psychological counseling to students presenting a wide range of concerns.

Conduct crisis interventions and deliver emergency psychological support, including during scheduled telehealth hours.

Plan, develop, and facilitate group counseling sessions and support groups, as needed.
Outreach, Education, and Programming

Design and lead workshops on topics aligned with student needs and mental health trends.

Develop and implement educational and prevention-focused outreach initiatives, with particular attention to underserved or special populations.

Collaborate with community partners and service providers to deliver health and wellness programs and co-curricular educational activities.
Additional

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Support and Wellness and
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or relevant field
Four years' experience serving clients across a broad range of presenting issues
Licensed in the state of New York.
Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in mental health counseling, social work, psychology, or relevant field, and
Licensed in New York as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
At least six years' experience serving clients across a broad range of presenting issues.
Qualifications and Skills

Advanced diagnostic and therapeutic skills, with expertise in short-term treatment approaches, and crisis intervention.

Demonstrated experience providing interdisciplinary care as part of a collaborative support team.

Prior experience working with graduate/professional student populations, or a strong understanding of the unique pressures and mental health needs within the law school environment.

Proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations and a demonstrated commitment to cultural competence.

Familiarity with frameworks such as critical race theory, racial identity development, and intersectionality as they relate to mental health and student wellbeing.

Experience designing and delivering outreach, psychoeducation, and wellness programming.

Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to work independently and manage responsibilities within a part-time schedule.

Understanding of counseling practices relevant to mediation and conflict resolution in academic settings.
COMPENSATION
$70.45/hour - $85.77/hour
Hourly rate is commensurate upon experience.
