Job Summary:
The Counseling Department at Delaware Valley University invites qualified applicants to apply for a full-time, 10-month Counselor position beginning in the Fall 2025 semester. The Counselor role provides individual and group counseling to a full-time caseload of clients with a variety of presenting concerns. This position includes maintaining proper documentation, performing crisis assessments, performing intakes, monitoring high-risk clients, providing referrals as necessary, professional consultation to faculty, staff, and students, and educational programming.
Job Duties:
In addition to maintaining a full caseload of clients, the Counselor:
- Provides direct counseling to individuals and groups and accurate documentation of all sessions.
- Assists in managing, reviewing, and maintaining client records for trainees.
- Assists with the development and management of counseling center projects, policies and procedures, data collection, and assessment.
- Participates in educational training, as well as consultation, to Faculty, Staff, and Administration.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives, preparation of annual reports assessments, and documents.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Assists as needed with weekly group and individual supervision to unlicensed professionals
- Available for consultation for practicum or internship students, as well as other staff
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- The full-time counselor is expected to be knowledgeable about current counseling practices and up to date on continuing education requirements.
- Must have working knowledge of EMR (Medicat preferred) and maintain timely documentation.
- Must work well within a team environment and be able to form rapport with clients and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in educational presentations and desire to work with departments across campus on projects and committees.
Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in counseling, Social Work, Clinical Psychology or closely related field
- 5 years of experience providing clinical mental health counseling, preferably in a college or university setting.
- Licensure in Pennsylvania required (LPC, LCSW, etc.). Experience working with diverse populations.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasionally lifting 25 lbs. or less
- Typically standing or walking
