POSITION SUMMARY:

Mental Health Services within the Habif Health and Wellness Center at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a newly approved position as a clinical staff member with strong generalist skills in the areas of time-limited individual, couples, and group counseling, outreach/consultation, and crisis intervention. This position will involve further development and coordination of efforts to better serve Washington University's African American and/or LGBT+ student communities.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Mental Health Services within the Habif Health and Wellness Center at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a newly approved position as a clinical staff member with strong generalist skills in the areas of time-limited individual, couples, and group counseling, outreach/consultation, and crisis intervention. This position will involve further development and coordination of efforts to better serve Washington University's African American and/or LGBT+ student communities.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides a range of clinical services to students including, assessment, individual/couples/group counseling, crisis intervention, and appropriate referral to off-campus resources.
  • Participates in the after hours on-call coverage (2-3 weeks per semester).
  • Provides clinical supervision to members of the practicum staff as appropriate.
  • Consults with members of the university community about the personal and psychological well-being of students.
  • Participates in or co-chair university committees as assigned.
  • Fulfills administrative responsibilities in the department:
    • Staff meetings and case conferences
    • Record keeping
    • Agency planning
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary and assigned.

Preference will be given to seasoned candidates with:

1) a proven track record working in a university counseling center setting with service to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students,

2) licensure as a psychologist,

3) demonstrated experience/commitment working with diverse individuals and communities from varying sexual orientations, gender identities, and ethnically, racially, and internationally diverse backgrounds,

4) well-developed clinical skills including an interest and demonstrated experience with the provision of various types of group therapy, 

5) demonstrated ability to handle spontaneous work demands while undertaking projects that require advanced planning,

6) Understanding of how systems have historically disadvantaged underserved populations and a desire to increase the presence, equity, opportunity, and systemic support for the success of these populations,

7) a collaborative spirit and ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary staff of health and mental health professionals,

8) excellent oral and written communication skills, and

9) a familiarity or interest in learning about the use of technology in the delivery of mental health interventions.
