Job Description
Under general supervision, this position provides professional mental health counseling (individual, group, and couples therapy), assessment, outreach, case management, and crisis intervention services to currently enrolled Texas A&M San Antonio students.
Responsibilities:
Assists in the coordination of counseling services, programs, and development of new programs.
May provide direct supervision to Master’s and/or Doctoral level Graduate Trainees at the Student Counseling Center (SCC) by coordinating orientation, having 1-1 supervision meetings, providing case-consultation, training, and aiding with feedback.
Meets ethical obligations for timely documentation of counseling services per State of Texas licensure/BHEC requirements and Counseling and Psychological Services Policies.
Engages in counseling related activities including the administration/interpretation of appropriate psychological assessments/inventories, making referrals, and managing various organizational and administrative aspects of counseling cases.
Seeks consultation from peers and leadership for difficult clinical cases per State of Texas licensure requirements.
Provides Consultation to faculty, staff, students, and parents as applicable.
Participates in professional development to meet licensure requirements and increase knowledge of the mental health field.
Works alongside SCC staff, and in conjunction with university staff/faculty in development, implementation, and participation of on-campus and off-campus outreach events that may include professional presentations, panel discussions, tabling events, etc.
May serve on departmental, division, and/or university committees, and participate in regularly scheduled meetings.
May supervise assigned staff and/or graduate-level student interns.
Assist with front desk coverage as needed including answering phones and scheduling client appointments.
Required Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance, Social Work, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, other specialty related to job function.
Five years (5) post-licensure clinical mental health experience in college counseling center or other relevant setting.
Required Licensing/Professional Certification:
Texas Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Must maintain licensure for continued employment.
