Summary
In collaboration with the College leadership team, provides leadership, vision, and direction to support and enhance the operations of the College Counseling Center. Responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating all activities associated with the College Counseling Center. This includes the supervision of the counseling staff, directing all aspects of the operation of the Center, assisting with crisis response efforts in Student Affairs, and ensuring that effective outreach efforts are being made to the College's diverse student body.

Job Duties

  • Provide leadership, vision, and direct oversight for all functions of the College Counseling Center including selection, training and supervision of staff and interns.
  • Represent the mental health needs of students in the department, within the Division of Student Affairs and in collaboration with other College departments, faculty, and administrators, serving on college committees as appropriate.
  • Maintain a personal counseling caseload, providing culturally sensitive, confidential counseling to students seeking help in coping with college life, relationship or family issues, academic challenges, depression or anxiety, disordered eating or other behavioral health issues.
  • Provide liaison and support with campus organizations and activities that promote psychological and behavioral health, environmental safety, and the integration of counseling services into overall student success in the college experience.
  • Coordinate, promote and provide educational programming for students on issues pertinent to their development and wellbeing.
  • Provide suicide or other risk assessment as indicated and provide emergency triage and referral for students experiencing acute distress.
  • Provide consultation services to faculty, staff, and families within the bounds of confidentiality.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field
  • 3 years in a clinical supervision or administrative role and
  • 5 years in a behavioral health clinical setting
  • Demonstrated clinical, supervisory, administrative, and fiscal skills
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills, especially in the areas of communication with patients and staff
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of behavioral health systems and community resources
  • Demonstrated computer skills

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
