Denison University and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center have partnered to provide expanded health and wellness services for the Denison community. Critical to the partnership is the Director of Counseling Services. This individual will be employed by and hold a faculty appointment in the Ohio State University Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health. The Director of Counseling provides leadership, strategic planning, and operational oversight for Denison University counseling services. Clinical offerings include individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, education/prevention outreach, consultation, and referral coordination. As a member of the Student Life Senior Management Team, the Director will also serve on the multidisciplinary CARE team and as part of the on-call rotation. The role requires collaboration with the multidisciplinary team of providers in the Health & Wellness Center as well as the larger college community to actively contribute to the mission of Denison University.  The Ann & Thomas Hoaglin Wellness Center is home to Counseling Services, Medical Services, and Student Wellness, and this Director of Counseling Services serves on the Wellness Leadership Team.  At OSUWMC, we are committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care. The psychologist directs or provides care in a manner consistent with the privileges granted them by the governing body of University Hospitals and as approved by the University Board of Trustees.

Duties and Responsibilities
Faculty responsibilities are consistent with our tripartite mission – patient care, education, and clinical research. The Director will provide leadership and operational oversight for services addressing emotional well-being/mental health of Denison students. This includes strategic planning, assessment, program development and implementation. The Director will provide structure to clinical operations (e.g., clinic schedules, patient flow, clinical utilization needs, structures of support, case management procedures, urgent and after-hours procedures, etc.).  In addition, 20% effort will be dedicated to direct clinical services to students.  The role requires thorough knowledge of the DSM-5 and mental health diagnoses within the ICD-10. The individual selected for this position will have opportunities to contribute to training, research, and other scholarly pursuits. Other duties include but are not limited to representing the program or Department by participating in committees, conferences, and representing OSU at professional meetings and community speaking engagements. The psychologist is expected to practice within the established Medical Center and standards of practice (policies, procedures, protocols), and adhere to key results areas of the Medical Center. 

Requirements

Doctoral Degree in Psychology.  Licensed or license-eligible in the state of Ohio. Applicants must be from an APA- or CPA-accredited clinical or counseling psychology doctoral program (with an accredited clinical internship) and be licensed in Ohio by the time of appointment. Exceptional candidates from an allied discipline (e.g., social work, counseling) will be considered. We seek an individual with training or experience providing mental health services to a college student population and at least 3 years in a supervisory or administrative role in a mental health setting. Experience in the areas of administration, organization, and development of counseling and mental health services and programs in a university setting is strongly desired, including experience in assessment, quality improvement, performance appraisal and evaluation, and use of data to inform decision making.  Preferred experiences also include: experience in working with diverse cultures and identities; demonstrated clinical skills compatible with a brief treatment model; demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives, programs and responsibilities while ensuring clinical excellence in the provision of direct services; experience in formulation and implementation of counseling services policy and staff supervision; and proficiency in use of electronic medical record. The psychologist must be competent in technical clinical skills and must possess the cognitive and interpersonal skills required to serve patients receiving the above-mentioned services.
